the Econocat range of boats are the definitive

Soft riding in the roughest waters the
Econocat is extremely stable at rest.
"Heeling under" common in mono hulls is
non existent with the Econocat. With the
high profile deck and topsides you will
stay drier, safer and have better visibility.
The Econocat design emphasis is on usability.
The rear boarding platform gives exceptional
ease of access. Once on board the rails
and gunwales are placed for maximum safety
for those making use of the huge deck.
This also provides ample space for big
game fishing. The dry spacious forward
cabin with 2 big berths makes this an
ideal overnighter.
The Econocat hulls are manufactured from
5083 marine grade aluminium, with 4mm
thick hull plating, the sides 3mm thick
and the topsides a mixture of 3mm and
2.5mm thick plating. Both pontoons are
polystyrene chip filled with a false floor
holding the chip above the bilges to avoid
any poly, seawater, aluminium reaction.

One
is wetness, particularly that caused by
a mist of fine droplets coming out of
the tunnel between the hulls and being
sucked into the cockpit by the low pressure
developed behind the screen when traveling.
The other common fault is cats pound badly
in head seas. The Econocat does not suffer
from either problem. Over the weekend
the wind and sea conditions were not great.
It was blowing 15 to 20 knots from the
SW most of the time and the sea varied
from flat close to the lee of Karikari
to a nasty tight little 1.5 metres plus
in exposed water. The good part was that
it gave the boat a substantial test." |
